THE FACTS:

  • 1.8 million Texans (10% of our population) have been diagnosed with diabetes.
  • 460,000 adult Texans are believed to have diabetes and are not yet diagnosed.
  • Up to 25% of all adults will develop diabetes at some point in their life.

GOOD NEWS!  Diabetes can be prevented.  A condition, called pre-diabetes indicates changes in the body that can progress to diabetes if not managed. Research shows the following changes can significantly impact your future health if you have been told you have pre-diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance or metabolic syndrome:

  • weight loss
  • exercise
  • diet modifications

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  Adults with pre-diabetes or healthy adults with a history of gestational diabetes or a family history of diabetes.

Join the education team at Seton Diabetes Education Center for an informative overview of pre-diabetes and effective health strategies.  This is offered at no cost and is intended to increase awareness on pre-diabetes management. For individualized instruction, call 512/324-1891.
