Answer

Arch pain can be caused by a multitude of factors. Dysfunctional tendons, insufficient blood flow, neurological disorders, biomechanical deformities, and benign soft tissue growths. These are only a few that remain at the top of the list.

Plantar Fasciitis is a very common ailment affecting the arch of the foot and represents approximately eighty to ninety percent of these cases. Most patients experience pain when they first step down in the morning or after periods of rest. However, the remaining ten to twenty percent can be caused by one of several other disorders.

An evaluation of the ankle and foot by a trained specialist can rule out some of the more serious disorders mentioned above. Most of the causes for arch pain can be treated with non-surgical methods which tend to produce results in a matter of days to weeks. There are, however, those recalcitrant cases that do not respond to these methods and they may go on to require other modes of treatment.
