Answer

Weight loss surgery in teens is a subject of debate.

Most of the physicans who are knowledgeable about results of weight loss surgery beleive that it is as good an option in the teens as it is in the adults.

However one needs to proceed cautiously in teens because of the emotional and psychosocial aspects that are unique to this group. Apart from individual counselling extensive family counselling, education, and understanding of all the risks involved are required. These patients need an excellent support network to ensure long term success.
